Carved and Painted Sculpture of a Running Dog in the form of an American 19th Century Pie Crimper, Signed on the underbelly Mark Perry, Nantucket

Carved and painted oversized pie crimper in the form of a running dog inspired by a 19th century carved whale ivory pie crimper. The dog is very gracefully carved with his front legs extended holding the pierced wheel. His long tail is stretched out and the sculpture looks like it is moving. At the center are two black painted bands simulating the baleen spacers in a period normal size crimper. The crimper is fitted with a black painted metal stand. On the bottom of the piece, it is signed Mark Perry, Nantucket ’03.
