Unique Chelsea ship's bell clock with aneroid barometer on a wood backboard. The Chelsea 8 1/2 inch ship's clock, no.59069, circa 1909 has an engraved waxed filled dial with Arabic numerals. The movement is dated with the patent date May 31, 1900. Between the winding post, the clock is engraved: "SHIP'S BELL" and below the numeral "12" the retailer's namne "RIGGS & BRO. PHILADA." The clock has a yellow brass case with hinged bezel. The clock retains its original Chelsea eight day time and strike movement.
The barometer which is mounted above the clock has a brass case with glazed 8 inch dial. This French aneroid barometer has a alchol centigrade barometer on the left and curved mercury thermometer on the right. The clock and barometer are mounted on a custom mahogany backboard with a figure-eight shape an an ogee edge. (CL-523)
Condition: The clock and barometer are in excellent condition and in good running order. The backboard has a nice age patina and is in excellent condition.
