Whale Ivory and whalebone cane, American mid-19th century. The cane has a whale ivory Carved monkey fist grip with wormed rope shaft. Below the grip is a baleen spacer above a fancy carved tapered shaft. The top of the whalebone shaft has a fine and delicate diamond cross hatch pattern carving above a fluted section above a second diamond cross hath section and then with a longer section of wormed rope carving. The remaining shaft is round and smooth. The carving is of very high quality with a complex carving pattern. (SC1221)
Condition: The cane is in excellent condition and has a warm patina.
