Pair of finely engraved polychrome scrimshaw whales’ teeth American mid-19th Century. Each tooth has a series of three fancy red and black engraved borders. At the top of the teeth is the word “ORE” and just above the inside border is the words “WE KEAT. G”. On the left facing tooth is a finely engraved angel holding up a banner above his head located inside the borders. The letters “W.MS. N” are engraved below the cherub. The right facing tooth has a well engraved polychrome cherub standing holding z shield in his left hand and a sword in his right an American Shield.
The teeth are in excellent condition and have old hand carved wood bases. (SC1230)
