Information

Sixth Plate Daguerreotype of a young handsome gentleman who is probably a fireman Seated with Tall Hat. Has has a beard with no mustache. He is wearing a black jacket and vest with a wide bow tie. His cheeks are slightly colored rose and the image is very crisp.  The case has its original fancy engraved oval mat and patterned red velvet on the opposite side. The dag has its original gutta-percha case with a raised standing portrait fireman holding a speaking trumpet, circa 1855. When the dag is removed from the case the original makers paper label is visable and states "Littlefield, Parsons & Co. Patented October 19, 1856". (PH-459)
Note: The dag was included in an old and large collection of 19th century fire  memorabilia and apparatus belonging to the fire specialty auctioneer Chuck Deluca that ran fire auctions in York Maine in the 1980s.
