EXCEPTIOALY WHALEBONE SCRIBE AMERICA Mid-19th Century. The scribe is larger and more elaborate than most examples of whale bone scribes. The shaft is ¾” square and has an applied bone stop at the bottom of one end of the shaft. The sliding section has an arched top with a wonderfully carved thumb screw in the form of a hart.
