Pair of Painted Cast Iron "Punch and Judy'' Doorstops
InformationPair of painted cast iron doorstops depicting Punch & Judy, probably English, circa 1910. The Judy doorstop shows an interesting impression of the Judy character with her grotesque features. Judy is holding a child-size Punch figure ion her arms. The figure is very detailed showing her decorated pantaloons and square buckle shoes. The Punch figure depicts a standing grotesque male figure wearing a toga-like robe and black painted sandals. Below Punch's right arm is a standing figure of a dog. Both figures are mounted on serpentine shaped bases with a molded top edge. (FA-956)
