Polychrome Scrimshaw Whale Bone Busk Engraved on Both Sides, American Circa 1860

InformationSCRIMSHAW WHALEBONE BUSK Obverse with six vignettes: Two hex signs, a weeping willow, two trees with potted plants, and a spread-wing eagle with olive branches, a shield and arrows. Vignettes with geometric and vine borders. Some elements, particularly the eagle, are deeply engraved, and some are stippled. Reverse nearly entirely covered by a green polychrome berry vine engraving. Length 13.5".
