Sailor Whirligig with Oar Shaped Paddles, by Frank Finney
InformationCarve and painted and laminated wirligig of a sailor by the famed 20th century folk artist Frank Finney. The sailors face is well carved and he has black painted hair, moustache and goatee. He is wearing a short sleeved blue shirt with a white painted neckerchief. The sailor has flesh color painted arms that end in a ball through which a paddle goes through. The paddles rotate with the arms on each end. The sailors pants are white painted bell bottoms and he has black boots. The sailors hat is round and is painted black. There is a patinize copper band around the hat with"V" cut back ends. The sailor can rotate on a metal rid that goes into a stepped turned thee tier base that is painted gray and blue. (FA1240)
Condition: The piece is in excellent condition and has a nice crackle finish and has no paint loss.
