SCRIMSHAW WHALEBONE PANEL IN THE FORM OF A CORSET BUSK, American, circa mid-19th century.
The obverse of the busk depicts a landscape with a man and a women near a house and a tree; a full-length portrait of a woman; a steepled building; a seascape with a lighthouse and a ship; and a raging bull. The reverse depicts a sun with a profile of a man's head and a fine engraving of a spread-wing eagle. (SC 1324)
Condition: The busk is in excellent condition and has a mellow age patina.
