Information

Painted pine Federal doorway, probably Portsmouth New Hampshire, circa 1790.  The top of the doorway has a broken arch pediment with beautiful carved scrolls.  Below the molded base of the pediment is a fluted panel.  Supporting the pediment on either side are pilasters with ionic capitals above fluted pilasters, above a molded band, above a plain panel. Condition:  The doorway has been painted many times during its useful life and has a wonderful weathered and crackled surface. Dimensions:  Height overall 8'10"; Width 5'6 5/8".
