Polychrome scrimshaw whales’ tooth with whaling scene American circa 1850. The whaling scene on obverse depicts a whaleship in the foreground and another in the far distance. There are three whaleboats in the water, a pod of spouting whales, and a harpooned whale. The water is colored red around it. Reverse has an engraved shorebird and an exotic flowering plant. (SC1244)
Condition: There is a chip out of the tip of the tooth that has been replaced. The tooth has a warm age patina.
