Oil on Canvas depicting the American Ship “Tiber” in two views signed and dated Walters and Son 1832.
The painting depicts the ship "Tiber" in brilliant color coming into Liverpool with Perch Rock Light and Fort in the
distance to the left. To the left is a stern 45-degree view of the of the “Tiber“flying a banner with her name from the top mast and an American flag off the gaff. The stern board is very detailed. Showing the vessel in two views is a common element in Walters and son’s paintings. The water is beautifully high-lighted around the bow and light stretching as it narrows to the left border. There is a group of sea gulls flying around in the left corner and a few small gaff rigged vessels in front of the fort. The sky is bright blue with puffy white clouds with some gray shading.

Condition: The painting was recently cleaned and restored by Tom Yost and refer to his condition report.
Reference: This painting is illustrated in color in the book Samuel Walters - Marine Artist Fifty Years of Sea, Sail, & Steam" by A.S. Davidson published in Great Britain by Jones-Sands Publishing 1992 Coventry page 64. Provenance: This painting hung for decades at "India House" a Maritime Museum located at 1 Hanover Square at the southern end of the New York Financial district. It still bares the plaque of the individual who gave it to the Museum.
