WHALE IVORY AND WOOD CANE
Mushroom-form handle inset with mother-of-pearl and three horizontal raised bands. The shaft has 31 alternating Rosewood shaft with whale ivory sections terminating in a whale bone ferrel. A rare feature of this walking stick is that it has scrimshaw engraved band decoration near the top of the cane with five sailing vessels and near the bottom there are engraved bands of anchors and harpoons. Condition: Some age cracks to grip and sections of wood and ivory with age age cracks.
