Fine whale ivory and Whalebone scrimshaw Cane American mid-19th Century. The grip ha a highly polished monkey fist grip and shows the 4 ending string stubs at the bottom of the knot. Below the grip is the top of the shaft is wormed rope carved. There is a thin baleen spacer between the grip and the whalebone shaft. The shaft is elaborately carved with a section of diamond cross hatch carving fallowed by a turks head detain the fallowed by wormed rope carving and the last six inches of the shaft is smooth and round. The shaft has a gentle tapered from top to bottom and is straight and not warped. (SC1220)
