Very Large and Rare Whalebone Fid, American 19th Century

InformationExtremely long thick and heavy whale bone fid, American 19th Century. The fid is very thick at the butt end and gently tapers to a tip at the opposite side. The bone is very dense and has an attractive grain or surface. Condition: The fid has scattered surface age cracks which add to the mellow patina of the piece.
