Large double Sheve Whalebone Block, 3rd Quarter 19th Century

InformationLARGE WHALEBONE DOUBLE BLOCK Fine and unusually large Whalebone block with two whalebone sheaves.. The block is constructed from several thick sections of whale bone and it is attached together with four thick metal pins on each side.The original ropework is covered by period canvas. The block retains the original metal thimble and and hand forged iron hook. Condition: The block is in original fine condition except for a small crack on each side of one of the middle spacer pieces. The block has a fine age patina. (SC1300) Dimensions: Lengths of bone section 5 3/4". Total length approx. 11".
