Whale Ivory, Whale Bone and Baleen Cane, with carved fist grip with detailed cuff, mid-19th century The shaft is expertly carved with small diamond hatch design below the baleen spacer and grip. Below is a deeply carved wave-like pattern followed by a carved narrow band with baleen dots around the perimeter. Below the dots is a wormed rope section and below is a narrow-carved band with no dots followed by a fluted section and a ten dot repeat of the narrow band with dots. Another section has diamond hatch ending with a smooth section. (WS0273)
