Outstanding whale ivory, whale bone, tortoiseshell and baleen cane, American, mid-19th century. There is a finely carved monkey fist grip above a rope turned whale ivory grip. Below is a baleen spacer with an eight-sided section of whale ivory with two diamond tortoiseshell inlays on each of the eight sides. There is a long tapered whale bone shaft divided into four sections. The top section has high relief diamond hatch carving above a Turk's-head; this is followed by a rope carved section ending with another Turk's-head; then another section of rope carving ending with a Turk's- head. The final section has a tiny hatch cut section with a final section of smooth polished bone.  (WS0262)
