Inlaid designs throughout of stars, petals, geometric devices and hearts pierced with harpoons. Ebony edges. Carved whalebone bracket base inlaid with contrasting diamonds, circles and an abalone heart at center. Interior fitted with a brown velvet-covered writing surface, pen trays, a lidded compartment and a drawer. Turned marine ivory knobs, including two on the lid that function as feet when the desk is open. Interior knobs with red and blue banding. Includes two turned marine ivory "WRH" stamps with matching red and blue banding. These initials are probably he initials of the owner and possible creator of the lap desk. (SC1361) Height 7.25".
