InformationVintage Nantucket Basket purse by José Formoso Reyes (1902-1980) circa 1955. Features a carved Charles Sayle whale ivory Sperm whale atop an ebony plaque. Oak formed and carved swing handle and ebony closure fid. Their are traces of the signature that states " Made on Nantucket by Jose Formoso Reyes" with a map of Nantucket. The signaiture has modest losses from wear. (FA1252)
Condition Excellent with a rich dark patina.
